ROLE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Dusk Dances Board of Directors, based in Toronto, is a fiduciary and advisory body. The Board approves developments in the growth of Dusk Dances, as well as provides the checks and balances for the financial operations of the organization. We have made great efforts to diversify our revenue as Dusk Dances continues to grow, and since 2012, the Board has taken a lead role in developing new fundraising strategies.

Currently, the work of the Board is supported by three committees: Board recruitment committee, Financial committee and Fundraising committee.

WHAT IS MY ROLE AS BOARD CHAIR?

You will directly contribute to the strategic development of the organization in the company’s renewed artistic direction and ensure the sound and sustainable development of the company through good governance practices.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THIS ROLE?

The board chair meets monthly with the Festival Director, and chairs the board meetings which take place quarterly. They may also attend monthly meetings of the Financial and Fundraising committee, as needed. The time commitment of this volunteer position is approximately 5-10 hours per month, over a three year term.

We are particularly interested in recruiting someone with skills in the following areas:

- Financial
- Arts administration
- Legal
- Fundraising
