Dusk Dances is inviting applications for Supporting Curators to join Festival Director and Curator Sofi Gudiño in programming their 2026 season, to be presented during the event at Withrow Park, in Toronto, from August 1-9, 2026. Two Supporting Curators will be selected.

The position will be part-time, from December 2025 to September 2026.

Rate of Compensation: $7,000 CAD per curator

About the Role & Responsibilities

This initiative is intended to act as a training ground for emergent and previously excluded dance curators who are interested in programming land based and site-specific work.

Throughout the contract, Festival Director Sofi Gudiño and the two Supporting Curators will engage in conversations about programming dance works, and the curation of outdoor dance events, while being mentored by Sofi Gudiño. Festival Founder and Consultant Sylvie Bouchard will also offer conversations during the project. This project is the second phase of an initiative that Dusk Dances began in 2022, to widen conversations about dance curation and to offer opportunities to those who are interested in curating and programming dance.

The selected curators will join Sofi in conversations around the history of Dusk Dances and the values surrounding curating site-specific dance works. Together with Sofi, they will program the 2026 event at Withrow Park, engage with artists in their rehearsal process, attend Dusk Dances in its entirety, and share in post-production conversations around their curatorial experience.

How to Apply

Interested candidates can share their CV and a letter of interest with Sofi at sofi@duskdances.ca. In your letter of interest, please share your motivation in developing your curatorial practice, your relationship with site-specific or land based dance, and the potential future outcomes of your mentorship that you are hopeful for. Curators are welcome to apply individually or as a team to fill both roles.

All candidates will be contacted, and interviews for the positions will take place mid-November. The interviews will be conducted by Sofi, Artist Advocate and Social Alignment Advisor Uche Ama, and members of the board.

Dusk Dances is an organization led by racialized artists, and will prioritize equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in filling this role. We fully welcome applications from People of Global Majority, Trans People, Queer People, Disabled People, Black, Asian, South Asian, Latine, Brown, Indigenous, and all named and unnamed folks who feel compelled. We invite you to self-identify in the recruitment process.
